What kind of coffee beans do you use?

We use only premium 100% arabica coffee beans to give you the best cup of coffee money can buy. Arabica beans are high-grade beans, grown in high areas (usually above 3000'). Robusta beans are low-grade beans, grown in low areas. Arabica coffee beans command the highest prices whereas robusta coffee beans are cheap and principally used as fillers.

Is it safe to use my credit card to order from Coffee & Tea Warehouse?

YES! We have taken utmost care to ensure your credit card number is safe. Entrust has secured our site with SSL digital encryption. Authorize.net (our credit card processing system) hides a portion of your credit card number; therefore nobody, including us, knows the complete number. The little lock appearing at the bottom of the order page indicates that we have taken the steps necessary to make sure no outside party can access you credit card information. We guarantee it. We accept Visa, MasterCard and American Express.

I want to place an order to be sent as a gift. Will the shipping bill show any prices?

No.  The shipping bill merely lists the contents being sent. No prices are shown. When ordering be sure to fill in the shipping address section to tell us who and where you want your gift order shipped.  In the check-out process there is a place to write your greeting.  We will include your greeting with your gift.

Do you ship outside the USA?

Yes. We ship to addresses outside the Continental USA.  We do ship to APO addresses.  Information on the handling of APO and overseas orders is located in "Shipping Information" page.

How come we recommend Whole Coffee Beans?

Pre-ground coffee beans quickly loses its flavor after it has been through the grinding process. Actually, in a matter of hours a lot of the flavor is lost. For this reason we strongly urge coffee lovers to buy and use only Whole Bean coffees. Only grind enough to brew the amount required for a decanter. To encourage the use of a grinder we are offer a top quality Bunn Grinder. To order this grinder go to Brewers & Grinders on the Main page. (Due to requests from some customers who do not have a grinder we do offer to grind the beans for them just before shipping the order.  There is an additional charge of .08 per lb.)

What's the best way to keep my coffee fresh?

Coffee that is not going to be used immediately should be stored in your freezer and will not experience any appreciable loss of flavor for several months. We strongly recommend using whole coffee beans and grinding the beans immediately before brewing. Only grind enough beans for one brew. Once the bag is open do not put back in the freezer.  Condensation by occur causing mustiness.  Instead, zip lock the bag tightly shut and store in a cool, dry place well away from heat.

What process do you use to decaffeinate your coffees?

We use the methelyne chloride process. This method retains the full flavor much better that other methods (such as Swiss Water Process that tends to dilute the full flavor of the coffee bean). The methelyne chloride process is perfectly safe, as it gasses off at around 175F. So while in the green bean state it has less than one part per million, after roasting it has even less than that, making any health concern about the process completely irrelevant.

Are your coffees Kosher?

Yes, all of our coffees are Kosher certified. The word "Kosher" is a derivation of the Hebrew kasher, meaning "proper" or "pure". Kosher foods and beverages bear an inherent hallmark of wholesomeness and quality.

What is Coffee Explorers Society and how can I join?

This is a society of coffee lovers who want to know more about their favorite beverage. When you subscribe to our monthly newsletter you automatically become a member of Coffee Explorers Society. Members receive advance notice of specials (some specials will have limited quantities available). This will allow you to place your order before everyone else.

You guarantee to meet and beat any lower coffee or tea price on the web. What if I do find a lower price?

Contact me, Russ Lumsden, by clicking: russ@coffeeandteawarehouse.com Tell me the product, the other web site, and if they are selling an equivalent coffee (their's must be 100% Arabica) or tea lower than us, we will meet and beat their price. Thing is, some vendors will slip a few low grade, low cost robustas in their blend in order to sell cheaper. All of our coffees are 100% Arabicas. Also, they may add on a delivery charge and that needs to figured in.
