HOW TO RAISE $4,000 IN THREE WEEKS
Here is the true story of how one middle (secondary) school in a small town of 16,000 raised $4005.60 in three weeks.
Teacher Jane Miller, along with help of her fellow teachers, organized and supervised their fund raiser for maximum profit. Here’s how they did it.
1. They took advantage of our low bulk (20 lb. pack) coffee pricing.
2. To appeal to widest range of potential purchasers they chose the following coffees:
• Colombian Supremo – Whole Bean (4.49 lb. x 20 lbs. = $89.80).
This excellent medium roast coffee appeals to a lot of people who recognize the name as a top quality coffee because of the extensive advertising campaign featuring Juan Valdez and his donkey.
• Colombian Supremo – Ground (4.49 lb. + .08 lb. = 4.57 lb. x 20 lb. = $91.40.)
They offered this coffee in ground form as they knew some of their potential purchasers might not have grinders in their kitchen. (We offer the Ground option at .08 lb. extra).
• Fog Cutter – Ground (4.34 lb. + .08 lb. = 4.42 lb. x 20 lbs. = $88.40)
This medium dark roast coffee is our most popular seller, appealing to those coffee drinkers who like a stronger, more robust cup.
• French Vanilla – Ground (5.82 lb. + .08 lb. = 5.90 lb. x 20 lbs. = $118.00)
This popular coffee appeals to people who like their coffee flavored.
Important Tip: Keep it simple. Offer only a few choices.
3. They purchased from Coffee & Tea Warehouse inexpensive 12 oz. kraft bags (with tin tie closure) @ .20 bag.
4. They supplied us with the label they had designed telling the purchaser how the monies raised would be spent. We put their label on the bags no extra charge.
5. When the shipment arrived the students, with the assistance of the teachers, filled and weighed out the 12 oz. bags, ready to sell.
6. With advertising support by local merchants and the local newspapers (at no cost), the students put on a major fund raising drive…with huge success.

Here’s the good news sequel: they ran their first fund raiser in early November, 2007. It was so successful they ran a second one in early December (to take advantage of Christmas sales). Again, very successful! They plan to run two more drives…in early Spring, 2008 and again, in May.
